Respite & Short-Term Care

We know how important it is to feel secure about the well-being of those you love, but we also know how important it is for caregivers to have time for rest and renewal.

Caring for elderly loved ones is a full-time job that requires not only enormous love but unlimited patience, understanding and energy.

That’s why the Wesley Respite Program has become a lifeline for many caregivers who just need a little time to themselves.

The Wesley Respite Program provides the perfect solution for vacations and business trips as well as when a loved one requires recovery time after a hospital stay. When the unexpected happens, we can also arrange for immediate admissions.

What is Respite Care?

Respite care is a short-term care service that is provided to give family caregivers a break from their caregiving duties. It is mainly intended to support the caregiver or to provide relief when they are unable to perform their responsibilities. This type of care can be planned or used as an emergency measure and can range from a few days to several weeks, depending on the situation and the services available in your local community. It is important to note that respite care can be beneficial for both the caregiver and the person receiving care.

Respite care is an excellent way to try out our community as an individual. You will receive the same care as the other residents and have access to all the amenities.

Respite care is equally beneficial for both guests and caregivers. While caregivers can take a break from their caregiving duties and alleviate stress, guests can engage in social activities that promote wellness and add value to their lives. It's crucial for family caregivers to use respite care or other forms of support to avoid burnout and relieve the stress that comes with looking after an aging parent or family member. Similarly, older individuals should also seek opportunities for socialization and activities that keep them engaged and active.

Within our gracious and comfortable environment, residents in our Respite Program enjoy:

  • Furnished rooms in a homelike environment
  • Trained staff available 24-hours a day
  • 24-hour emergency response system
  • Assistance with personal care
  • Three delicious, healthy meals daily

  • Active social program
  • Scheduled transportation
  • Full-service beauty shop on premises
  • Access, if needed, to Wesley Oaks, our Alzheimer’s/Memory Care facilities at our Sulphur SpringsGilmer and Gainesville locations (serving Longview as well)

What Makes Wesley House Senior Living Respite Care Different?

Our senior living communities offer programs designed to alleviate the stress that family caregivers often face when trying to juggle care with maintaining a household and career. We invite older individuals who are considering moving into one of our communities to join us. No matter the length of stay, individuals become part of our family and receive the same great care and access to amenities that are provided to our residents.

Respite care services offered at Wesley Oaks offer socialization and stimulation in an environment with trained caregivers. This is an opportunity for seniors to make new friends, develop new hobbies, and otherwise socialize in ways they may not have previously, promoting overall health and wellness.

Take Us For A Test Drive

For those who are thinking about assisted living, but would like to try it out first, there is the Wesley Trial Stay Program. The Trial Stay is for the senior who wants to learn about assisted living first hand, but is not yet ready to make a long-term commitment.

Trial Stay residents have access to the same care, services, amenities, programs and social opportunities as full-time residents.

Once the Trial Stay is over, seniors have gained an understanding of all that assisted living has to offer. Many Trial Stay residents continue on and move in permanently.

The Wesley Respite and Trial Stay Programs are great ways to see if assisted living is for you.
